This policy explains what personal data The Resource Balance collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum a small editorial site needs to operate.

If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you choose to put in your message. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the exchange.
Like most websites, our host records standard technical information when a page is served — IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used to keep the site secure and running, and are not used to build individual profiles.
We use a lightweight, self-hosted audience count to understand which articles are read. It relies on aggregated data and does not track you across other sites. We do not use advertising cookies, social-media trackers, or third-party analytics platforms.
The site sets only the strictly necessary cookies required for it to function and to remember your language preference. No consent banner is imposed because we set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process correspondence on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering it, and technical logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure site. Where the law requires consent, we ask for it and you may withdraw it at any time.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for marketing. Data is processed on our behalf only by the service providers needed to run the site — principally our hosting provider (OVH SAS, France). These providers act on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality.
Editorial correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the matter and any follow-up, then deleted. Technical logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes and then discarded or anonymised.
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact the publication director above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.
Our providers are located in the European Union. If any data were ever transferred outside the EU, we would rely on the safeguards permitted by the GDPR.
